AV Signal Routing Matrix
A routing matrix maps N inputs to M outputs, allowing any source to feed any destination. Modern AV matrices handle video (SDI, HDMI, NDI), audio (Dante, AES67), and control signals (ArtNet, OSC) simultaneously. Click cells to toggle routing paths.
Tiled Display Walls
Tiled display systems compose many individual screens into a single large canvas. Warp, blend, and bezel correction software aligns content seamlessly across physical gaps. Resolution scales linearly with panel count — a 4×3 array of 4K displays produces a 15360×3240 canvas.
Distributed Rendering Cluster
Large-scale immersive displays require compute distributed across multiple render nodes, each driving a subset of outputs. A master controller distributes scene state, handles synchronization, and manages failover. GPU occupancy, thermal throttling, and network latency must all be monitored in real time.
Synchronization & Genlock
Multi-channel immersive systems require all render nodes and displays to be synchronized to a common clock. SMPTE timecode provides frame-accurate position; PTP (IEEE 1588) achieves nanosecond network synchronization; genlock phase-locks display refresh cycles to a master sync pulse.
Media Server Pipeline
Media servers like d3/disguise, Green Hippo, and Resolume manage content playback, real-time generative rendering, and signal routing for large-scale installations. They interface with LED processors, projector networks, and show control systems via NDI, Spout, ArtNet, and DMX protocols.
AV Network Architecture
Modern AV systems use IP-based protocols over structured Ethernet networks. NDI carries video at Gbps; Dante/AES67 routes audio with sub-millisecond latency; ArtNet and sACN distribute lighting control; OSC handles show control and parameter automation. Click nodes to inspect protocol details.
Artists & Researchers
Immersive media systems practitioners span technical directors, media architects, show control engineers, and artists who design at the intersection of infrastructure and experience.
